[ fidelio's just hanging out in the lobby of the mansion for a bit after the angels' introduction, still working his way through the profiles on his phone.
when he sees lucas, he just follows up on their last conversation now that they have their answer. ]
[THEY SURE WERE. THE AFTERLIFE IS FULL OF HOOLIGANS!!!!
He'll move over, though, phone in his hand but profiles closed for the time being.]
I suppose it makes sense, in a way... One would surely lose track of time very easily when they only have an abundance of it. Did you have your questions answered, at least?
[ALL OF THESE WILD NEW LOCATIONS and so many places to explore... Whenever Fidelio happens upon the caves and makes his way to the room of pink clouds, he'll find it already occupied! He steps into a small hospital room bathed in the golden glow of the setting sun. It's rather tidy, though the windows have many bouquets of flowers lining all of the sills. A young girl lies asleep in the bed, thin and frail, positively dwarfed by her pillows and the small mountain of stuffed toys surrounding her.
Lucas also stands by the bedside, looking very much like he wants to reach out and touch her, but he's already learned better. He starts a little when the door opens, in any case, and quickly moves to wipe his cheeks since a fool is definitely crying.]
Ah— My apologies, I... It's so easy to lose track of time here...
[ suddenly like huh i have no idea if hospitals exist in metaphor and i think they probably don't, but at least it's still pretty clear what's going on in this scene. which makes fidelio stop in his tracks even before lucas says anything, because the memory this brings back to the forefront of his mind still feels like a punch to the gut after all these years, even if his own story had a mostly happy ending. ]
Ah... Don't worry about it. Nothin' I needed to do in here anyway.
[ he's not very good at expressing sympathy, and normally his inclination would be to just get out and let a crying person have their privacy. but in this situation, he doesn't make an immediate move to either go or come closer; he just lingers in the doorway awkwardly until he finally comes out and asks. ]
[ fidelio had gone with basilio to the hospital as soon as he'd been triaged and sent over, and he hasn't left since.
at the moment, he's just outside the door to the room — still cracked so he can see inside — anxiously looking over a page in his notebook. it my take him a few seconds to register lucas's presence, but once he does, he just gives him a Look like. having a sibling here is fucking horrible, actually. ]

[HE HAD BEEN JEALOUS AND NOW HE JUST FEELS BAD. MY GOD. HE'S SO GLAD NADIA ISN'T HERE ACTUALLY. He'll pull up to do a little fussing, though, glancing only briefly at the notebook and the cracked door before turning his attention back to Fidelio.]
...Is there anything that I can get for either of the two of you?
[ when this memory starts playing across the mirrors, fidelio visibly winces. reliving this hurts, and it feels all the more raw after last week. but just like there was nothing else he could do back then, there's nothing he could do now that would make it any better either. so he just lets it go to its conclusion.
...after intruding on lucas in the cave that time, he supposes turnabout is fair play, even if this does feel a little excessive in how deeply personal it is. ]
[not me getting taken out by this memory ME, AKI!!!!! here is my memshare list BUT I'M GIVING YOU HOPE FOR SURE. SLAMS MY FIST THROUGH THE EARTH'S CRUST.
Anyway!!!! Wow!!!! This is absolutely horrendous! He's asked it himself before, time and time again - why must the children suffer? Why, when they're so young, so free from even the smallest spot of sin? Why is the world such a cruel place to those who deserve it the least? To the frail, to the weak, to the disadvantaged, to the discriminated? Why do those with strength abuse it so terribly, and the innocent suffer for it?
These aren't unfamiliar emotions to him. The situation, though different in many terrible ways, is also somewhat similar. And even though he'd already felt a sort of camaraderie with Fidelio just by virtue of him being an elder brother with a little sibling to protect, he's kind of rocked to his core over the injustices they faced and the pain and suffering they endured, even in these little bits that he'd seen. To feel and know that biting helplessness, and to be buried under the weight of a life so precious but so heavy to carry...
It's all a lot and he just kind of ends up crying. HELP!!!!! Not full on crying, at least, but there are definitely tears welling up in his eyes that he has to immediately wipe away as the memory comes to a close.]
[TWO NICKELS MEME WHAT THE HELL. Lucas' vibes are still mellow and he is still holding his little baby bunny, but there's also a bit of a perplexed feeling.]
It's strange enough for it to happen once, but twice...
[Wild.]
—How are you doing, by the way? Jiaoqiu tended to your injuries, I've heard.
[EVERYONE GOT SO HIGH THIS WEEKEND. Lucas is seated in the middle of the room, kneeling and in prayer and looking pretty peaceful when Fidelio comes in. Though he does open his eyes as soon as someone else enters, and his expression shifts from that to one of faint confusion.]

Lucas will approach with a lil bag slung over his arm, though. He pulls out a water bottle and offers it out. Stay hydrated in these trying times.]
