[BECAUSE I MISSED YOU IN MY INBOX!!! (this was my own fault.)]

I can... [Tries one more time.] Ah, fuck it.

[He hands it to Fidelio, please assist him. I forgot to mention someone has decorated his hand overnight.]

I can workshop a single-hand open later, when we're not sitting under a new cloud of ungodly misery. Thank you, by the way. If you want the first sip, it's yours.

Oh, bless you and your kind soul.

[He gives him a little cheers, dour as the mood may be, and takes a polite swig. The silence beats down on the precious seconds in-between.]

...I want to say I was surprised, but...with how few answers we had last week when things locked down...

[He trails off, flinching. Shaking his head.]

I can't believe it but I still don't feel surprised at all.

No, you got me there. Two is ghastly. Even more so that one is a kid. [A pause.] In a fashion. Attitude, at least.

Mhmm.

[He'll take a drink, a worried knot between his brows.]

...Your brother mentioned you two were, ah...officers, so to speak. This the kind of stuff you were looking into back home?

Well, typically when I hear officers I think "police". Or it could be a naval thing.

What was the gig, then?

Aaah. So much less murder investigation than expected. [His mouth quirks.] Though he did mention your former head honcho was something of a megalomaniac.

Regardless, I was just wondering. Trying to figure out who's all got prior experience with this sort of thing, you know. Any pointers they might share with the class, whether they wanted to start streamlining how we do things. Feels a bit chaotic.
