[ well, the funhouse was not where we were trying to go when we opened that door, but now we sure are here, and there's a memory (1:16:24 - 1:19:04) playing across the mirrors that leaves fidelio frowning, though he doesn't make any move to try to stop it from playing or change anything within it. ]
anders watches this and his gaze flicks over to Fidelio, watching for his reaction. honestly it's not as if Fidelio was in any way wrong here - it's interesting though, to see him in this context. ]
This is the man you were telling me about before, isn't it? The one who would be king.
[ the way the camera focuses on him right after fidelio mentions sycophants takes me out every time, ilu glodell ]
Yeah. That's Count Louis.
[ fidelio's more of a bystander than anything in this memory, but maybe that's sort of the problem. in retrospect, he probably should have given a fuck about the fact that louis had purposefully left this guy's family and entire village to die instead of just going along with him and calling it an acceptable loss. ]
Listen to him talk like that and you know he's gonna do whatever it takes to realise his vision. No risk of him losin' his spine and bending to someone else's will. Seemed like a sort of saviour to people like us, even if he was exactly the opposite for others.
[ ... ]
Though honestly, that was just another sellin' point to me at the start. The idea of clemar nobles like that feeling the same despair as the tribes they walked all over... that felt like justice.
[ yeah, it probably did. it's always the fantasy, isn't it? that someone who holds so much power will finally, finally hear the way you've been treated and is willing to take a stand for you. That you've convinced them of the wrong they've done and they will want to right it.
It makes the inevitable fact they are never doing it for you hurt all the more. ]
The worst kind of bastard. One who would use justice for his own gain rather than seek it for those who truly deserve it.
Don't even know what it is he'd be gaining from it in the end if he's really planning to let the whole place be overrun by humans.
[ he still really can't wrap his head around what the hell louis has actually been thinking all this time... and it does hurt, knowing how wrong he was about someone he'd respected so much. ]
...But yeah. Whatever his actual goal is, it's sure as hell not what all the people who threw their lives away for his cause thought they were dyin' for.

[ he's confident, and strong-willed. he has a belief that he is willing to stand by. people like that are rare enough. ]
He is the kind of person that inspires a following.
